Introductions matter, especially in the world of cold calling. They can make or break that critical first impression. Today, I'd like to share with you what I consider the best cold call intro I've ever encountered.


I can't take credit for this gem; it's the brainchild of a dear friend and former colleague, whom we'll call Steve.


So, what makes this intro stand out from the rest? It's all about simplicity and emotional intelligence (EQ).


1. Respect and Clarity: The intro begins with, "Hello, My name is ______ from ________. You and I haven't spoken before. The reason for my call is ______." This approach immediately respects your prospect's time and intelligence. It acknowledges that they likely don't know who you are and answers the two most burning questions: Who are you? And why are you calling me?


2. Getting to the Point: Think about it from your prospect's perspective. They've picked up the phone, and in the back of their mind, they're wondering when the sales pitch is coming. With this intro, you cut through the fluff and get straight to the purpose of your call. There's no beating around the bush, no superficial chit-chat about the weather. You establish the reason for the call right from the start.


3. Setting Yourself Apart: Its thoughtfulness sets this intro apart from the usual run-of-the-mill sales pitches. It shows that you respect your prospect's time and yours. You're not wasting their valuable minutes with empty pleasantries and clichés. Instead, you're engaging them with purpose and authenticity.


4. Engage and Differentiate: This intro is your ticket to more engaging prospect conversations. It differentiates you from the sea of sales professionals who follow a more traditional, less effective approach. It's a game-changer that paves the way for meaningful interactions.
